Annual Trafalgar Service

Exeter Cathedral

Since 1973 Exeter Flotilla has hosted an annual Trafalgar Service at Exeter Cathedral on a Sunday near the anniversary of Nelson's historic battle. In 2017 it will take place on Sunday 22 October at 1130.

The large congregation normally includes the Lord Lieutenant and the High Sheriff of Devon, the Lord Mayor of Exeter and other senior civic dignitaries together with senior Royal Navy and Royal Marines Officers.

There will be serving representatives from the Royal Navy and Royal Marines together with service and maritime associations from all over Devon, including the Royal British Legion, the RNA, RMA, MNA, Sea Cadets, and the White Ensign Club.

Last year the address was given by The Chaplain of the Fleet, the Venerable Ian Wheatley. Details of the preacher this year are yet to be agreed. Music will be provided by the band of HM Royal Marines, Lympstone.

The Trafalgar Service also raises money for charity, the Flotilla being proud to raise £280 for the RN & RM Charity last year.

After the Service the Flotilla holds a Reception for invited guests.
